New Fibers 2008, the third biennial exhibition sponsored by the Fiber Arts Network of Michigan, showed contemporary fiber art in a broad range of forms, from textiles rooted in traditional processes and materials, to sculpture, conceptual and installation art.

The exhibition contained works selected by juror Patricia Malarcher, the editor of the Surface Design Journal.  Ms. Malarcher is a working textile artist and is recognized for her knowledge and understanding of current fiber arts.

The exhibit was shown at the University Art Gallery, Eastern Michigan University, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, from May 6 to June 12, 2008; and then at the William Bonifas Fine Arts Center, in Escanaba, Michigan, from June 26 to July 24, 2008.
